The Word Series: History of the Fall Classic Deluxe - DVD Review

***SYNOPSIS***

Narrated by Bob Costas and crafted by the filmmakers of Major League Baseball Productions this is the definitive documentary on the World Series, the madness, triumphs, and exhilarating moments that will be remembered for the ages. The expertly blended archival footage, thrilling game action and more than 100 interviews with players, managers, writers, broadcasters, and historians create an exciting and comprehensive chronicle of the Fall Classic.

***VIDEO QUALITY***

World Series arrives on DVD with a 480p transfer in the various aspect ratio of 1.78:1 and 1.33:1. The newly shot segments come across perfectly of course as I expected footage varies from vintage B&W and soft to much more crisp and clean clips from the past few years once they started filming in HD. Colors were very strong overall with blues & oranges on the uniforms and green grass came across well. Fine detail was about average. Black levels were good. A fine viewing experience for the World Series. 8/10

***AUDIO QUALITY***

Audio is provided by a Dolby Digital 2.0 track. This is a consistently crisp and clean track. Dialogue and and narration was always intelligible. Bob Costas did a fine job hosting. 8/10

What Color is Love? - DVD Review

***SYNOPSIS***

The Lifetime movie WHAT COLOR IS LOVE? tells the story of Nicole, a beautiful young Caucasian woman and a sports groupie, who falls for Ty, a married African-American pro basketball star. The fantasy soon ends when her affair with the athlete results in an extraordinary court battle for custody of their mixed-race son. Inspired by a true story. Starring Jennifer Finnegan and Roger Cross.

***VIDEO QUALITY***

What Color is Love arrives on DVD with a 480p transfer in the original aspect ratio of 1.78:1. The presentation is solid overall but exhibited a natural but somewhat bland appearance. Color reproduction was quite natural. Blacks were consistent but for a few instances of grey instead of inky black 7.5/10

***AUDIO QUALITY***

Audio is provided by a Dolby Digital Stereo 2.0 track. Okay as expected this is a talk heavy track and the dialogue was crisp and clean. Music was played too good effect and stereo separation was good. 7/10
