Based on the best-selling crime thriller books by Tess Gerritsen, Rizzoli & Isles focuses on tough-as-nails Boston police detective Jane Rizzoli (Harmon), who has an uncompromisingly brash and beautiful bull-in-a-china-shop approach to both cases and life, and the brilliant medical examiner from a privileged background, Dr. Maura Isles (Alexander), who may be the best-dressed science nerd in New England. Together, they are close friends and complete opposites who solve some of Boston’s most notorious crimes.
For Jane and Maura, the final season of Rizzoli & Isles, is the most thrilling and dangerous one yet. The first episode picks up right where season six left off, during the aftermath of the shooting at Korsak’s wedding reception. The team must use every tool at their disposal to find the elusive Alice Sands, whom they’ve been trying to hunt down and bring to justice before she destroys Jane’s life. Season seven also brings some of the most challenging mysteries to date, as well as the return of friends and family members. Wills are tested, love blossoms and everyone looks ahead into the future as their lives move forward.
While it is a shame to see the show go it has an entertaining final run of episodes. Rizolli & Isles was the #1 show for TNT for several years and it worked because of the excellent chemistry from it's two leads. Pick up this DVD set and binge watch it over a snowy weekend. 8.5/10
Rizzoli & Isles: The Complete Seventh & Final Season arrives on DVD with a 480 transfer in the aspect ratio of 1.78:1. - Colors exhibit nice saturation with bright and bold primaries in some moments. Flesh tones looked natural. Blacks had nice depth while allowing good shadow delineation still. Detail was good and benefits most in close-ups. I did notice some light compression artifacts. 8/10
Audio is provided by a Dolby Digital 5.1 track. - Dialogue was crisp and clear. The LFE channel added some heft to the more thrilling moments of the season. Surround channels are used for environmental effects and bleeding of the score. No issues to speak of. 8/10
