“Warner Bros. Home Entertainment provided me with a free copy of the DVD I reviewed in this Blog Post. The opinions I share are my own.”
In Season Two, Lucifer Morningstar and LAPD Detective Chloe Decker are back solving murders on L.A.’s white-hot streets, with their relationship growing deeper, closer, and more awkward for them both. To add fuel to the fire, Lucifer’s mum, Charlotte, escapes Hell, bringing along a ton of emotional baggage: Now Lucifer and his angel brother, Amenadiel — with whom Lucifer has serious sibling issues — must work together to deal with mommy dearest. Meanwhile, Dr. Linda, therapist and confidante to Lucifer, Amenadiel and Maze, is having a devil of a time doling out some of the most bizarre advice ever. Tensions (including the sexual kind) are sizzling in all 18 frighteningly fun, frivolous adventures. Welcome to Devil time!
The sophomore season of Lucifer makes it clear that the best quality of the show is it's cast. Tom Hollis the title character is a mixture of devilish charm and hidden depth. While parts of the procedural roots of the show had me waiting for a little more heat I was able to binge all three discs in an equal amount of nights. The set is priced to own and I would recommend picking it up. 8/10
Lucifer: The Complete Second Season arrives on DVD with a 480p transfer in the aspect ratio of 1.78:1. - The show has a very slick look to it with well balanced primaries and crisp whites. Flesh tones look natural. Blacks levels have excellent depth. The image is clear and has no problem showing fine details in the very fashionable Lucifer's wardrobe. 9/10
Audio is provided by a Dolby Digital 5.1 track. - Dialogue for the 18 episodes was consistent in it's clarity. Surround channels have moments of environmental effects and opens up the music a bit. Music benefits the most from the good amount of bass in the LFE channel. 9/10
