**SYNOPSIS**
Before there was Amityville, there was Harrisville. “The Conjuring” tells the true story of world renowned paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren (Patrick Wilson, Vera Farmiga) who were called upon to help a family terrorized by a dark presence in a secluded farmhouse.
Forced to confront a powerful demonic entity, the Warrens find themselves caught in the most horrifying case of their lives.
**MOVIE REVIEW**
Going into this film I was a bit skeptic to all the hype and accolades it got over the summer and when it was done I was pleasantly shocked at how well made and scary it was without hardly a drop of blood, no foul language and a hugely likeable cast that makes you want the characters to make it out safely and together. Based on the real life story of Ed and Lorraine Warren who are most famous for their involvement with the Amityville Horror case first helped the family of Roger and Carolyn Perron and their five daughters when they moved into a haunted house filled with decades of suffering and tragedy.
Director James Wan does a great job taking what could have been another horror film full of cliched bumps in the night and turned it into on of the best scary movies in quite some time by taking the time for things to build with a good look into who these people are before all hell breaks loose. The scares are there but they are well balanced and surprising. For anyone that has fears of clowns or creepy dolls then Anabelle from the first visual your eyes see after the WB logo shows up on screen will make you squirm with her rosy cheeks and dead eye stare. I don't want to spoil any of the big jump scares in the film except that it has what must be the spookiest hand clap in history. With Halloween upon us this is well worth adding to your collection.

**VIDEO QUALITY**
The Conjuring arrives on Blu-ray with a 1080p transfer in the aspect ratio of
2.40:1. - A beautiful and film like transfer that draws the viewer into this haunting tale. Colors exhibit lovely earth tones that complement the 1970's setting of the film. Skintones were natural throughout. Black levels are rich and deep with perfect shadow delineation. Contrast found a perfect balance. Detail was eye popping in it's clarity with razor sharp close ups, every little stitch in clothing showing and the textures of the cozy looking but haunted home. I noticed zero signs of edge enhancement or noise.

**AUDIO QUALITY**
Audio is provided by a
DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 track. - Make sure to turn off the lights and set your receiver level high as this is a stunningly dynamic track. From hushed voices in the dark to guttural screams of terror dialogue is crystal clear. From the opening salvo of musical score the LFE channel gives a sense of something sinister is about to happen. During the film it goes from quiet to startlingly deep and room rattling with tightness and accuracy. Surrounds evade the listening room with claps from out of nowhere, doors closing 10 feet to the back of you, ghostly voices moaning and birds crashing into windows from all directions. No pops, cracks or hisses were heard.
