Tomb Raider arrives on 4K UHD Blu-ray with a 2160p presentation in the 2.39:1 aspect ratio. - The standard Blu-ray included in this combo pack is a stunner in it's own right. 9/10 for the standard Blu-ray.
The 4K Ultra HD presentation includes HDR 10 and Dolby Vision. This is a very beautiful movie to watch and it is presented perfectly here.
A warm, lush color palette is abound with bold primaries that pop off the screen. Specular highlights give the image an almost 3d look in scenes by how much it adds to dimensionality. Black levels were deep and inky but there was a few instances of crush which was fixed with a tick up two levels on my tv darkness setting. Went back over those scenes and shadow detail was quite good. Contrast in bright scenes on a supposedly deserted island looks excellent. There are no signs of artificial sharpening or noise. Clarity is brilliant with every line and pore in faces, ribbing of texture in clothing was razor sharp. 10/10 for the 4K Ultra HD disc.
Audio is provided by a Dolby Atmos track. - Dialogue reproduction with the various accents was consistently crisp and clear. LFE performance was bone rattling at times. Deep, precise bass accompanies fun action sequences. Surround and height channels add a wonderful sense of immersion. The best moments take place in the final act of the film that takes place in a ancient tomb. The score by Junkie XL sounds excellent. 9.5/10
