Walt Disney Home Entertainment has officially announced they will be releasing Pixar's latest blockbuster Inside Out to 3D Blu-ray Combo Pack, Blu-ray Combo Pack and DVD on November 3, 2015. Based on the global bestselling novel by J.K. Rowling, the HBO and BBC coproduction THE CASUAL VACANCY is a three-part mini-series produced by Brontë Film and Television, written by Sarah Phelps (Eastenders, Great Expectations) and directed by Jonny Campbell (Doctor Who, Shameless). **MOVIE REVIEW**


J.K. Rowling created a world of magic and wonder with the Harry Potter series of novels. She followed that up with The Casual Vacancy and while I have never gotten around to reading the book I did sit down to watch the HBO mini-series adaptation. While the cast does feature some powerful performances the overall pace is just too slow and drawn out. Another issue is the large amount of characters that one has to be introduced to and most of them aren't particularly memorable or interesting.

If you have yet to read the book I would caution dipping your toes with a rental first and then decide if you want to add this to your collection. 6.5/10


**VIDEO QUALITY**


The Casual Vacancy arrives on Blu-ray with a 1080p transfer in the aspect ratio of 2.40:1 - Colors have a pleasing, natural appearance with a couple bold primaries showing more vivid pop. Black levels were good. Overall clarity was excellent save for a few instances of blurring. Thankfully no sings of artifacts or edge enhancement. 8/10


**AUDIO QUALITY**


Audio is provided by a DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 track. - Dialogue was reproduced faithfully with clarity and precision. Surrounds are used for crowd din and environmental effects but for the most part this is a front heavy track. LFE performance is barely existent and only kicks in for a bit of added depth to the music. No anomalies to speak of. 8/10

Warner Bros. Home Entertainment has officially announced they will be releasing MAX to Blu-ray Combo Pack and DVD on October 27, 2015. The Blu-ray will feature 1080p video in the 2.40:1 aspect ratio and at least a DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 track or better. Below are the official details:

**SERIES REVIEW**


With the big screen adaptation of the popular 60's series arriving on screens this upcoming weekend it was a hoot to go back and watch the full , uncut 29 episodes of The Man From U.N.C.L.E.'s first season. Robert Vaughn and David McCallum build some great chemistry during the the season and they were some of the most stylish looking personalities on television at the time. There are a plethora of guest stars and fun early roles from actors and actresses who became big players in the industry years later.

This was and still remains a well made series that brought the viewer into a world of intrigue with a solid cast of characters. 8/10


**VIDEO QUALITY**


The Man From U.N.C.L.E.: The Complete First Season arrives on DVD in the aspect ratio of 1.33:1 - The show is presented in Black & White. Contrast was good and black levels were deep enough. Overall clarity was good but there are issues with print damage showing noticeable spots and debris. 7/10


**AUDIO QUALITY**


Audio is provided by a Dolby Digital 1.0 Mono track. - Dialogue was clearly defined. The 1 channel presentation does a nice job of blending effects and the score. 7.5/10

Hot Pursuit Blu-ray Review

**SYNOPSIS**


“Hot Pursuit” is directed by Anne Fletcher (“The Proposal”) from a screenplay written by David Feeney (TV’s “New Girl”) & John Quaintance (TV’s Ben & Kate). John Carroll Lynch (“Crazy, Stupid, Love.”) and Robert Kazinsky (“Pacific Rim”) also star in the film, which was produced by Bruna Papandrea (“Wild,” “Gone Girl”), Reese Witherspoon and Dana Fox alongside executive producers Jeff Waxman, Sofía Vergara and Luis Balaguer.

In “Hot Pursuit,” an uptight and by-the-book cop (Witherspoon) tries to protect the sexy and outgoing widow (Vergara) of a drug boss as they race through Texas, pursued by crooked cops and murderous gunmen.





**MOVIE REVIEW**


"Hot Pursuit" is a bit of miss but there are a few moments that made me laugh. Reese Witherspoon does a good job of portraying the tomboyish police officer who finds herself in a whole mess being chased by dirty cops and having to escort Sofia Vergara's grating rich housewife who has just lost her drug kingpin husband. If you're a fan of Modern Family then you have already decided if you like Vergara's comedic style of shouting and screeching in her thick accent, mostly incomprehensible dialogue. I am kind of in the middle as she is a fine performer when she has moments to slow down and take time to show a more softer and patient side.

The action beats of the film are engaging enough. The best one being the two women in a chase down a highway with dirty cops shooting at them while they work to maneuver a huge tourist bus full of seniors. "Hot Pursuit" runs at a short 87 minutes. In closing this one is better to rent first and go from there. 7/10


**VIDEO QUALITY**


Hot Pursuit arrives on Blu-ray with a 1080p transfer in the aspect ratio of 2.40:1 - Colors feature bold primaries and pleasing saturation. Black levels were solid but not super deep. Contrast was a little off with some scenes looking a bit blown out or soft. Fine detail in the women's clothing and the various locations they visit while on the run was good. 8/10


**AUDIO QUALITY**


Audio is provided by a DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 track. - Dialogue was consistently crisp and clear. LFE performance packs a wallop when guns are fired. Environmental effects create a good sense of being on location. Fidelity and dynamics were surprisingly robust. No pops , cracks or hissing to speak of. 8.5/10

* The Womance (HD, 3:05) - Reese and Sofía’s on-set crazy-mashup-antics. From dance moves to car crashes, see these women light up the screen and leave us in stitches with their side-splitting comedic styling.

* Hot Pursuit: Say What? (HD, 3:46) - Watch the hilarity that ensued when Reese and Sofía each tried to speak the other’s language. See Reese get her tongue tied trying to speak Spanish and watch Sofía’s tongue actually go numb from trying to speak English.

* Action Like A Lady (HD, 2:26) - In this action montage we will see all the crazy fun that went into creating the insane action scenes in the film. From jumping out a ten-foot high window, to a crazy girl fight to commandeering a tour bus during a high- speed shoot out…bring on the laughs.

2 Broke Girls: The Complete Fourth Season DVD Review

**SYNOPSIS**


Season Four serves up sweet success for two of Brooklyn’s hottest waitresses, Max (Kat Dennings) and Caroline (Beth Behrs), as they plan to strike it rich with their new cupcake T-shirt business! The shirts are selling like hot cakes, until a couple of unfortunate situations happen, and the two entrepreneurs are back at square one — and broke again. Love is in the air as Sophie (Jennifer Coolidge) and Oleg (Jonathan Kite) plan their wedding, with Max and Caroline as the bridesmaids and Earl (Garrett Morris) and Han (Matthew Moy) along for the ride. The girls still worry about ways to make money, but their friendship is worth a million bucks. Season Four also features appearances by guest stars Kim Kardashian West, Lily Aldridge and Sandra Bernard.

**SERIES REVIEW**


2 Broke Girls continues it's run with a fourth season that is pretty much more of the same. While Kat Dennings and Beth Behrs are okay the comedy material they and rest of the cast are given is tired. The episodes breeze by fast enough but a binge viewing is not recommended as one episode blends in to the next. While the show is not my taste fans of the series should pick it up. 6.5/10

2 Broke Girls: The Complete Fourth Season arrives on DVD in the aspect ratio of 1.78:1 - Colors pop with rich saturation and bold primaries. Contrast was pleasingly balanced. Black levels were good. The overall image is crisp and detailed. 8/10

Persons of Interest: The Complete Fourth Season arrives on Blu-ray with a 1080p transfer in the aspect ratio of 1.78:1 - Warner Bros. continues their string of excellent television show presentations with a crisp and consistently detailed transfer for each of the 22 episodes. Colors are styled to have a darker tone but do exhibit flashes of deeply saturated primaries. Skintones appear to look natural. Black levels were quite deep with nice shadow delineation. 9/10


**AUDIO QUALITY**


Audio is provided by a DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 track. - Dialogue is crisp and crystal clear. Surrounds add some crowd din in the city and to open the listening space up during the more thrilling moments of the show. LFE performance was consistently deep and packs quite a punch on the low end. Overall these tracks are dynamic and engaging. 8.5/10
