The 100: The Complete Fourth Season DVD Review

“Warner Bros. Home Entertainment provided me with a free copy of the DVD I reviewed in this Blog Post. The opinions I share are my own.”

**SYNOPSIS**

In the midst of death and destruction, relationships are put to the test as the 100 fight for their very existence. These heroes enter the fourth season at the epicenter of both the Grounder world and their newly founded home base of Arkadia. After season three’s all-out war, a far more lethal threat has risen to the surface:Clarke has learned that Earth’s remaining nuclear reactors are melting and will soon set the atmosphere on fire. ALIE, the A.I. who launched the world’s nuclear missiles causing the apocalypse, was telling the truth. With the human race doomed to face an unbeatable enemy, Clarke and her allies amongst Arkadia and the Grounders must fight for humankind and all life itself. But with hope fleeting and the end inevitable, will our heroes spend their remaining days trying to survive… or finally trying to live? The stakes have never been higher, alliances are breaking, and the world is about to collapse. Civility has no place at the end of the world, and there’s no telling what lengths the 100 will go to in order to survive.

Based on Kass Morgan’s bestselling young adult book of the same name, The 100: The Complete Fourth Season returns with an all-star cast including Eliza Taylor (The November Man), Paige Turco (Person of Interest), Bob Morley, Marie Avgeropoulos (50/50, Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief), Devon Bostick (Diary of a Wimpy Kid),Christopher Larkin, Lindsey Morgan, Richard Harmon (Bates Motel), and Zach McGowan (Black Sails), with Isaiah Washington (Grey’s Anatomy) and Henry Ian Cusick (Lost).

**MOVIE REVIEW**

Kong: Skull Island is without a doubt one of the funnest action romps of the past few years. Beautiful cinematography of the Vietnam landscapes, a game cast including the show-stealer John C. Reilly. The visual effects on Kong look quite realistic for most of the shots featuring the King. I highly recommend picking this one up. 9/10

**VIDEO QUALITY**

Kong: Skull Island arrives on 4K UHD Blu-ray with a 2160p transfer in the aspect ratio of 2.40:1 - The standard Blu-ray is full of visual interest. Color reproduction was excellent, especially in lush and varied greens o the jungle. Black levels were deep with no sacrifice in shadow detail. 9/10

The 4K Ultra HD presentation is worth seeking out. The uptick in resolution reveals finer details and nuances in Kong's fur. The most dramatic difference is from HDR which takes the already beautiful color saturation and just ads a whole other dimension to the richness and depth. Black levels take a little hit and were overall better on the standard Blu-ray. 9.5/10

**AUDIO QUALITY**

Audio is provided by a Dolby Atmos track. - Dialogue was crisply presented in the center channel. From the opening moments this is an all out aural assault. The added channels provide thrilling moments like a helicopter losing altitude and as it whirs and drops down the chopper blades spin 360 degrees and with a feeling that they will drop a little further and slice right through you. The power in the height and LFE channels during this scene are demo worthy. Speaking of the LFE, whenever there is action happening on screen you are punched in the gut with super deep bass that was playful yet precise. No issues can be heard on this stunning track. 10/10

Teen Wolf Season 6 Part 1 arrives on DVD with a 480 sd transfer in the original aspect ratio 1.78:1 - The show has a dark look that exhibits deep black levels with solid shadow delineation. Colors have nice color saturation and are balanced with natural skin tones. The overall is crisp and fine details on clothing and close ups looked excellent. I did not notice any signs of major compression artifacts. 9/10

***AUDIO QUALITY***

Audio is provided by Dolby Digital 5.1 tracks. - Dialogue was consistently crisp and clear throughout. I was pleased to hear some well placed surround activity when the action ramps up and also for the music cues that play during the show. The LFE adds some welcome heft to the soundtrack and when things get hairy for Scott and his friends. 8.5/10
