This outrageous new comedy stars Australian Jim Jefferies as an edgy, foul-mouthed stand-up comic living in Los Angeles, struggling to make his life and career more "legit." But every time Jim tries to do the right thing, his good deeds turn into wildly inappropriate and utterly hilarious escapades. Joined by his neurotic best friend and roommate, Steve, and Steve’s wheelchair-bound brother, Billy, Jim takes comedy to a whole new level, whether it’s visiting a Las Vegas brothel, partying with the mentally-challenged or trying to pick up women at a gay bar.
The first season of Legit aired on FX and I was a fan from the first episode. Crude with a soft underbelly the show is effective at creating some strong laughter from the viewer and also not feel so bad about it when some more non pc jokes are made. The cast play well off each other with comedian Jim Jefferies trying to help DJ Qualls paralyzed Billy live life and have experiences he never had before. This includes a road trip to a brothel that is one of the funnies things I saw on the air last year. Some minor cons would be that the show runs out of steam on the back set of episodes that can feel a little bit the same but ends well and has me looking forward to the upcoming season.8/10
Legit arrives on DVD with a 480i transfer in the aspect ratio of 1.78:1. - Colors exhibit a natural tone with more bold flashes popping when the guys go out and get wild. Black levels were good but a few scenes were a little more gray in scale. Detail is above average with close ups showing wrinkles and spots on the faces and heads of the cast. No signs of major compression artifacts were noticed. 8/10
Audio is provided by a Dolby Digital 5.1 track. - A perfectly fine if not overly lively track. Dialogue driven voices were always crisp and clear. Surrounds are used for light environmental effects and bleeding of music cues. No problems to report. 7.5/10
