The Intern Blu-ray Review

**SYNOPSIS**


In “The Intern,” De Niro stars as Ben Whittaker, a 70-year-old widower who has discovered that retirement isn’t all it’s cracked up to be. Seizing an opportunity to get back in the game, he becomes a senior intern at an online fashion site, founded and run by Jules Ostin (Hathaway).





**MOVIE REVIEW**


The Intern sees Robert De Niro enter the picture perfect world of a Nancy Meyer film that takes place in Brooklyn, NY. Everything is bright and cheerful with interiors looking like something out of a catalog. De Niro is quite game in his role of a widower who is looking for something to keep him going and pass his time. The young cast that surrounds his character Ben are a lot of fun and it's great to see them look up to Ben as a mentor, especially Adam DeVine.

Anne Hathaway gives another solid performance but I did find myself not believing that her character was the boss that her employees should fear as she really is just an unorganized mess who found herself running a company she did not expect to grow at the speed it did. The movie is a bit predictable but overall it is enjoyable enough for a viewing or two. 7.5/10


**VIDEO QUALITY**


The Intern arrives on Blu-ray with a 1080p transfer in the aspect ratio of 1.85:1 - Colors are awash in bright, bold primaries and lush earth tones. Whites are bright and contrast was well balanced. Black levels were deep without any signs of crushing. Details of the clothing, impeccable set design and close ups were consistently crisp and well defined. No signs of artifacts. 9/10


**AUDIO QUALITY**


Audio is provided by a DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 track. - The dialogue was placed front and center with a crisp presentation throughout the film. Surrounds are used for environmental effects that help bring the office and outdoor scenes to life. The LFE channel is modest for most of the film but does provide some deeper bass one of the music selections. No problems to speak of. 8/10
