“Warner Bros. Home Entertainment provided me with a free copy of the DVD I reviewed in this Blog Post. The opinions I share are my own.”
Meet television’s next great detective, Cormoran Strike (Tom Burke), a war veteran turned private detective who operates out of a tiny office in London’s Denmark Street. He is wounded both physically and psychologically but his unique insight and his background as an SIB investigator prove crucial in solving complex cases, which the police seem unable to solve. Robin Ellacott (Holliday Grainger) is Strike’s new office temp who is in charge of managing his chaotic life. She soon becomes involved with his caseload and begins to see her true potential. Together they crack some of London’s most intriguing cases.
C.B. Strike: The Series arrives on DVD with a 480p transfer in the aspect ratio of 1.78:1. - The series goes for a naturalistic look in colors of clothing and in the saturation of skin tones. Blacks levels were solid. The image for all 7 episodes run pretty consistent in clarity and good fine detail. I do have to mention due to being compressed on DVD there were instances of digital noise. 8/10
Audio is provided by a Dolby Digital 5.1 track. - The British accents are clearly understood thanks to the excellent dialogue reproduction. The LFE channel has a few moments of deep thumping bass but as expected this isn't a very aggressive listening experience. Surround channels are used for sparse environmental effects and remains front heavy through most of the 7 episodes. 7.5/10
