Soon, a bloody war escalated between vampires and witches — the stakes raised by powerful teenage witch Davina and by Klaus’s bond with Cami, a student with a painful past — and a ruthless pack of wolves seized the opportunity to stage a violent coup. Focus Blu-ray Review

**SYNOPSIS**

Will Smith stars as Nicky, a seasoned master of misdirection who becomes romantically involved with novice con artist Jess (Margot Robbie). As he’s teaching her the tricks of the trade, she gets too close for comfort and he abruptly breaks it off. Three years later, the former flame—now an accomplished femme fatale—shows up in Buenos Aires in the middle of the high stakes racecar circuit. In the midst of Nicky’s latest, very dangerous scheme, she throws his plans for a loop…and the consummate con man off his game.

**MOVIE REVIEW**

Focus is a slick and entertaining film that is worth checking out but may split viewers with how it ends. Will Smith is as smooth as he's ever been as the con artist Nicky. Margot Robbie who was a scene stealer and perfect match with Leonardo Dicaprio in The Wolf of Wall Street continues to impress in her latest role as Jess and there is natural chemistry between her and Smith. The plot falters a little at the end but overall I would recommend this one. 8/10

**VIDEO QUALITY**

Focus arrives on Blu-ray with a 1080p transfer in the aspect ratio of 1.85:1 - The slick production gets a brilliant presentation here. Colors feature a palette of cool blues and greens that are accompanied by bold splashes of richer hues. Skintones look natural and well balanced. Blacks are consistently deep and rich. Fine detailing in close ups or even larger crowd scenes was excellent. No signs of edge enhancement or other annoyances. 9.5/10

**AUDIO QUALITY**

Audio is provided by a DTS-HD Master Audio 7.1 track. - Dialogue is placed front and center, remaining crisp and crystal clear throughout the 104 minute film. Surround channel activity helped with immersing the viewer into this world of deception and lies. Bass adds a nice amount of heft to music and deeper rumbles during a car race. 8.5/10

**SPECIAL FEATURES**

* Masters of Misdirection: The Players in a Con (HD, 10min25sec)

* Will Smith: Gentleman Thief (HD, 5min52sec)

* Margot Robbie: Stealing Hearts (HD, 4min8sec)

* Deleted Scenes (HD, 8min2sec)

Jupiter Ascending Blu-ray Review

**SYNOPSIS**

Jupiter Jones (Kunis) was born under a night sky, with signs predicting that she was destined for great things. Now grown, Jupiter dreams of the stars but wakes up to the cold reality of a job cleaning other people’s houses and an endless run of bad breaks. Only when Caine (Tatum), a genetically engineered ex-military hunter, arrives on Earth to track her down does Jupiter begin to glimpse the fate that has been waiting for her all along—her genetic signature marks her as next in line for an extraordinary inheritance that could alter the balance of the cosmos.

**MOVIE REVIEW**

Jupiter Ascending is the latest film from Lana and Andrew Wachowski (The Matrix) and it is at times thoroughly entertaining but falls short with a slower and convoluted third act. The action sequences are quite the spectacle and the art design is beautiful.

Unfortunately I found the performance of Mila Kunis to be a bit wooden and one dimensional which is a shame and also partly due to the material. The usually stellar Eddie Redmayne plays a villian who goes from quiet, barely audible whispers to shouting that comes across a bit hammy and his character seems to be in a haze most the time. I would recommend checking out the film at least once and see if the pace dropping third act works for you. 7/10

**VIDEO QUALITY**

Jupiter Ascending arrives on Blu-ray with a 1080p transfer in the aspect ratio of 2.40:1 - While the film has some flaws this presentation is close to perfect. Colors were beautifully balanced and features bold and eye popping primaries. Black levels solid with a good amount of shadow detail. The image is stunning crystal clear and fine detail in wardrobe , weapons and faces was excellent. There are no problems to speak of. 9/10

**AUDIO QUALITY**

Audio is provided by a Dolby Atmos 7.1 track. - Dialogue was consistent in clarity and crispness. Where the track really stands out is in the thunderous LFE. Deep, powerful bass thrills with every shot and explosion and while it is quite aggressive there was never any distortion. Surround activity is constant with smooth pans, environmental effects and blaster shots whizzing by. Michael Giacchino's lush score is balanced perfectly in the mix. 10/10
