The Big Bang Theory — which was already renewed for two additional seasons on CBS — revolves around two genius roommates Leonard Hofstadter and Sheldon Cooper who remain socially challenged, but always produce hilarious results with their friends. With Leonard finally engaged to girl-across-the-hall Penny after countless proposals, the possibilities for happiness seem endless…while the probability for laughs is a foregone conclusion. What’s unknown is how this might impact the ironclad “Roommate Agreement” he’s entered into with Sheldon. Add to this, Sheldon’s uncomfortably close relationship with neurobiologist Amy Farrah Fowler; Raj’s newfound ability to talk to and date women; and Howard and Bernadette’s solution to an in-house caretaker (their friend Stuart) for the always outspoken Mrs. Wolowitz, and the worlds of science and sitcom are about to hilariously collide!

Eight years in The Big Bang Theory has a legion of fans and is the most watched comedy on television. I'll start by saying I'm not one of the nearly 23 million viewers that tune in every week on CBS. With that in mind I did find some things to like about the show, especially the performance of Johnny Galecki who's been seen on television screens since the late 80's as a supporting character on the iconic series Roseanne. He shows some depth while Jim Parsons performance kind of grates in my opinion. Kaley Cuoco and Mayim Bialik do solid work making the women on the show vital and likable. The two discs are easy to get through in a few nights and will be a welcome addition to any fans collection. 7/10
The Big Bang Theory: The Complete Eighth Season arrives on Blu-ray with a 1080p transfer in the aspect ratio of 1.78:1 - Colors feature nice saturation of primaries and natural flesh tones. Black levels were solid. Contrast is set just right for a sitcom setting. The image was crisp and detailed. No artifacts or edge enhancement seen in any of the episodes. 8/10
Audio is provided by a DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 track. - This collection of episodes feature tracks that Dialogue is placed front and center sounding crystal clear through the entire season. Surround activity was used mostly for spacing of the laugh track. No anomalies to speak on. 7.5/10
