DC Universe Batman VS. Robin on Blu-ray April 14th

Warner Bros. Home Entertainment has officially announced they will release the next DC Universe movie Batman Vs. Robin to Blu-ray, Digital HD and DVD on April 14, 2015. The Blu-ray specs are set to be 1080p video in the 1.78:1 aspect ratio and what should be at least a DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 track for audio. Below are the official details:





**SYNOPSIS**

The Judge Blu-ray Review

**SYNOPSIS**


In “The Judge,” Robert Downey Jr. stars as big city lawyer Hank Palmer, who returns to his childhood home where his estranged father, the town’s judge (Duvall), is suspected of murder. He sets out to discover the truth and along the way reconnects with the family he walked away from years before.





**MOVIE REVIEW**


The Judge is a showcase for two of our finest actors. Robert Downey Jr (Hank Palmer) and Robert Duvall are at the top of their game as the hotshot lawyer son and the respected Father who has been a Judge for decades. The courtroom drama is kept to a minimum and instead focuses more on the time spent at home with father and son trying to repair their relationship. The cast is rounded out by the lovely Vera Farmiga as an old flame of Hank's who now owns a restaurant. Vincent D'Onofrio plays Hank's older brother who stayed home after suffering an injury that sidelined his hopes of having a baseball career. If I found any faults with the movie I feel it would have been helped by some tighter editing. Overall The Judge is a solid drama that deserves your attention. 8/10


**VIDEO QUALITY**


The Judge arrives on Blu-ray with a 1080p transfer in the aspect ratio of 2.40:1 - Colors are beautifully balanced with perfect saturation. Lush greens and crisp whites pop in outdoor scenes while more subtle earth and warm wood tones are the palette for the courtroom setting. Skin tones appear natural. Black levels were rich and inky. Shadow delineation was good. Fine details in individual hairs on an arm, the subtle changes in the pattern of a waterfall and close ups on interesting faces all look fantastic. The cinematography is beautiful and this transfer does it justice. 9/10


**AUDIO QUALITY**


Audio is provided by a DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 track. - The Judge is a dialogue driven film and it comes through crystal clear. Surrounds are quiet for most of the film though they due get woken up when a twister tears through the small community and also for a couple outdoor moments on a lake where the environment sounds natural and enveloping. The score blends into the mix beautifully and sounds crisp and clear. 8/10

* Inside The Judge (HD, 22min16sec) - One of the better bonus features I've watched in some time. This is a roundtable discussion with cast and crew sharing their thoughts on the film and how it was made.

The Tom and Jerry Show: Funny Side Up DVD Review

**SYNOPSIS**


The timeless adventures of Tom and Jerry are back in a brand-new TV show the whole family can enjoy! The Tom and Jerry Show Season 1 Part 2: Funny Side Up features 13 exciting escapades featuring Tom and Jerry and their favorite pals, including Spike and Tuffy. The pursuit takes off as Tom, Jerry and the gang fly through unfriendly skies in Just Plane Nuts. Detectives Tom and Jerry are on the case to find Spike’s missing dog bones in Bone Dry. Love is in the air when a mad scientist transports Tom and Jerry to Paris to meet a girl cat and a girl mouse in Molecular Break Up. Jerry and Tuffy cause havoc on a luxury cruise liner in Cruisin’ for a Bruisin’. These and several other hilarious episodes are featured in this entertaining set.

Originally created by William Hanna and Joseph Barbera, Tom and Jerry emerged during Hollywood’s golden age of animation and became one of the most popular cartoon series in existence. The shorts focus on the never-ending rivalry between Tom the cat and Jerry the mouse. The plots of each short usually center on Tom’s attempts to capture Jerry. Jerry however, is clever and quick on his feet so Tom hardly ever manages to catch him.


**SERIES REVIEW**


I remember growing up and watching the classic Tom and Jerry animated shorts and how much they made me laugh with their cat and mouse game. This newly created series that originally aired on the Cartoon Network doesn't hold the same effect as episodes from decades earlier but any long time or viewer of these two characters will be entertained. The Tom and Jerry Show: Funny Side Up arrives on DVD with a 480 transfer in the aspect ratio of 1.78:1 - The animation style is pleasing to the eyes. Colors are bright and bold. The image is crisp and shows no signs of anomalies. Black levels were inky. 8.5/10


**AUDIO QUALITY**


Audio is provided by a Dolby Digital 5.1 track. - This track is more about the sound effects that are caused by the chaos from Tom constantly trying to catch Jerry. The minimal lines of dialogue spoken by human characters on the show were crystal clear. 7.5/10

Interstellar on Blu-ray March 31

Paramount Home Entertainment has officially announced they will release Director Christopher Nolan'sfascinating Interstellar to Blu-ray and DVD on March 31, 2015. The film stars Mathew McConaughey, Anne Hathaway, Jessica Chastain and Michael Caine. The Blu-ray specs are set to be 1080p video in a variable aspect ratio of 1.78 :1 (Imax sequences) and 2.35:1 and a DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 track for audio.
