Latest L.A. Noire Trailer - "Gamplay Series: Orientation"
Rockstar Games has provided this latest trailer to the much anticipated video game release L.A. Noire. This is a first in a series of in-depth gameplay videos for the tile. " Gameplay Series: Orientation" is an overview of the game's core mechanics from searching for clues, to the fundamentals of witness interrogation, and classic action including brawling and shootouts. Using all in-game footage, this first gameplay video in the series explains how your detective skills, intuition and cunning have the power to make or break each case. This looks to be without a doubt one of the best games for 2011.
UFC: Best of 2010 coming to Blu-ray March 29

I Spit On Your Grave (1978) - Blu-ray Disc Review
UNCUT. UNCENSORED. AND STILL UNPRECEDENTED.
Some condemned it as 'vile', 'depraved' and 'degenerate entertainment'. Others acclaimed it as 'disturbing', 'misunderstood', and 'the ultimate feminist movie'. Now more than 30 years later, re-experience one of the most hated, debated and controversial movies of all time: Camille Keaton stars as Jennifer Hills, an attractive city woman who rents a backwoods cabin to begin writing her first novel. She is soon attacked by a group of local lowlifes - including one who is mentally disabled - and dragged screaming into a nightmare of rape, sodomy and violence. Left for dead, she devises a horrific plan for revenge. These men will be cut, chopped, broken and burned beyond recognition...but no jury in America would ever convict her. You may be shocked, outraged or even disgusted. Yet you will never forget the raw impact of the original I SPIT ON YOUR GRAVE.
I Spit On Your Grave arrives on Blu-ray with a 1080p transfer in the aspect ratio of 1.78:1. Anchor Bay really surprises with a solid transfer for such a grimy cult film. Colors were decently saturated with some lush greens of the forest really standing out. Fine detail was fairly good when looking close at clothing textures and the cabin that Jennifer stays in but other shots were soft. There is a layer of grain that is visible throughout that helps to boost the gritty feel of the film. For a movie made on a shoestring budget this is a great presentation. 7.5/10
Audio is provided by a Dolby TrueHD 5.1 track. This is an adequate if underwhelming track. Basically front heavy with some instances of environmental sound effects panning across the front channels. Dialogue was a little muffled in some scenes but for the most part was very clean. Surround usage was basically nil besides the rare atmospheric effect. There was no LFE to speak of really. There is only so much that can be done with original source from such a low budget horror film. 6/10
* Audio Commentary - Writer/Director Meir Zarchi loves to think that his film was brilliant and he boasts his feelings on that matter several times. When he isn't though he does provide listeners with a wealth of information from the start of the production on.
* Audio Commentary - This is the same excellent track from the Millennium Edition DVD featuring Author/Historian Joe Bob Briggs. This is without a doubt on of the best audio commentaries ever and worth the price of the Blu-ray alone. He is very insightful and voices his opinion of the film.
* The Values of Vengeance: Meir Zarchi Remembers I Spit on Your Grave (29min, SD) - This is a newly recorder interview and it is strange that is not presented in HD. Meir Zarchi is always a fun entertaining listen but a lot of the subjects that he touches upon on the commentary are discussed here. Still worth a watch.

I Spit On Your Grave arrives on Blu-ray with a 1080p transfer in the aspect ratio of 2.35:1. Due to the monochromatic look of the film this is a clean but flat presentation that loses the grittiness of the 1978 original. Black levels were deep, but there were some instances of a darker shade of gray. Colors are stylistically dialed down but do exhibit a natural look in outdoor scenes. Detail was strong throughout with clothing textures , tree bark, camouflage gear realized in remarkable crispness. Overall this is a solid presentation of the source. 8.5/10
Audio is provided by a Dolby TrueHD 5.1 track. The best aspect of this presentation is the great sense of atmosphere. Outdoor scenes use the surround channels to perfect use with blowing and rustling trees, howling dogs, and natural woodland environment sounds. Dialogue was crisp and placed directly in the center channel. Bass is for the most part low key and lacks tightness. This isn't a particularly dynamic. The same thing goes for the audio as the did the video, nothing to write home about but faithful to the source. 8/10
* Audio Commentary - Director Steven R. Monroe and Producer Lisa Hansen provide some very good insight into the production itself, their thoughts on the original, and problems with the MPAA. Worth a listen if you enjoyed the film.

Let Me In - Blu-ray Disc Review
From Matt Reeves – the writer/director of Cloverfield – comes the new vampire classic that critics are calling “chillingly real” (Scott Bowles, USA Today) and “one of the best horror films of the year” (Cinematical). In bleak New Mexico, a lonely, bullied boy, Owen (Kodi Smit-McPhee of The Road), forms a unique bond with his mysterious new neighbor, Abby (Chloë Grace Moretz of Kick-Ass). Trapped in the mind and body of a child, however, Abby is forced to hide a horrific secret of bloodthirsty survival. But in a world of both tenderness and terror, how can you invite in the one friend who may unleash the ultimate nightmare?
Let Me In is a beautifully haunting tale of two lost souls who are social outcasts. Although the film has horror elements and there is vampire in it, this is not your typical Twighlight tripe. The two lead child actors are amazing in their stillness and portray pain in their eyes instead of a showy performance. I really enjoyed the tone of the film, it plays more like a late 70's early 80's film like E.T.. There are some unsettling scenes at school of Owen being bullied by three classmates. The superb Chloe Moretz (Kick-Ass) is a force to be reckoned with and is the best young actress today. A must see film. 9/10
Let Me In arrives on Blu-ray with a 1080p transfer in the aspect ratio of 2.40:1. This is a faithful rendition of what I saw at my local my theater and yes the film is intentionally dark. Colors tend to be more of the monochromatic look with spurts of deep reds and a hauntingly cold orange tone at the outside play are where Abby and Owen meet. Blacks are deep and inky with a few instances of a push towards gray. Detail is very strong in clothing textures , especially the outdoor scene at the frozen lake. I did note some softness to the image but they are due to the source and not the transfer itself. There is a very fine layer of grain if you look for it which adds to a more film like look. Anchor Bay has provided a nice presentation. 8/10
Audio is provided by a Dolby TrueHD 5.1 track. What we get here is a quiet track that lets loose with startling dynamics when called upon. The beautifully simple score bleeds through to the surrounds. Dialogue is crisp and clear throughout. Bass was deep but a little muddy in an early scene of the film. The surrounds are utilized to bring you into the environments the characters are inhabiting. This is an excellent presentation that will have you feeling the cold of winter one minute and the scared uncertainty of the horror that takes place . 9/10
