Homeland: The Complete Second Season Blu-ray Review

**SYNOPSIS**

“Homeland” makes its triumphant return after winning six Emmy® Awards, including Outstanding Lead Actress for Claire Danes, Outstanding Lead Actor for Damian Lewis and Outstanding Drama Series. Marine Sgt. Nicholas Brody (Lewis) is now a U.S. congressman, and former CIA agent Carrie Mathison (Danes) has returned to civilian life. But when a new and potentially devastating terrorist threat emerges, Brody and Carrie's lives become intertwined once again and they resume their delicate dance of suspicion, deceit and desire. Delve deeper into the edge-of-your-seat excitement with the thrilling second season of this "unmissable and gloriously suspenseful" (USA Today) hit show.

**SERIES REVIEW**

The first season of Homeland started with a slow build of tension that lead to thrilling last episodes. With this second season the action gets going pretty quickly with some thrilling moments. The leads are excellent again and love the way Claire Danes can portray Carrie's biploar disorder with authenticity that never goes over the top. Damian Lewis's finest hour is in the episode "Q&A" and he could gran the Emmy this Sunday for that one alone. There are several twists and turns that had me on the edge of my seat waiting for more. Homeland continues it's run as one of the finest series at the moment. 9/10

**VIDEO QUALITY**

Homeland: Complete Second Season arrives on Blu-ray with a 1080p transfer in the aspect ratio of 1.78:1. Homeland has a natural, real world look to it that comes across great on Blu-ray. Colors are well balanced with some stylistically altered choices in some scenes. Flesh tones have a natural quality to them. Black levels were deep with just very light crushing on certain scenes. Fine detail brings you into the shows world with crisp letters on notes and maps, closeups show every perfection or imperfection in faces and every stitch in clothing. Another standout television series release from Fox. 9/10

**AUDIO QUALITY**

Audio is proved by a DTS-HD 5.1 track. This is a dynamic track that goes from almost hushed dialogue to a startling 360 degree sound field with wall rattling LFE response. Dialogue is always crisp and clear. Bass was tight with some really stunning lows when action heats up. Surrounds are engaged in more intense moments and used for very subtle bleeding in quieter moments. 9/10
