**SYNOPSIS**
The Complete Matrix Trilogy presents the complete adventures of machine battling truth-seekers Neo (Keanu Reeves), Trinity (Carrie-Anne Moss) and Morpheus (Laurence Fishburne) in all three of the Wachowskis ground-breaking monumental sci-fi feature films.
**MOVIE SERIES REVIEW**
The Matrix was released March 31, 1999 and movies have never been the same. This was a groundbreaking film mixing jaw dropping effects, balletic fight sequences and a mind blowing story that will make you think. Nineteen years later nothing has changed as it remains one of the all time great action movies and elements of the story are more relevant than ever with our relation to technology and A.I.
The sequels were released within 6 months of each other in 2003 and were the most anticipated films of the year but were met with disappointment and division among the general public and hardcore fans. Personally I find them fascinating. The Wachowski's pushed the boundaries of what a sequel can be by expanding the mythology, asking the audience to pay close attention and free their mind. The action sequences are breathtaking with the freeway chase in Reloaded still on of the finest ever made for sheer speed, variety and the audacity to even undertake the task to film it. **VIDEO QUALITY**
The Matrix Trilogy arrives on 4K UHD Blu-ray with a 2160p presentation in the original aspect ratio of
2.39:1.
The Matrix
The 4K Ultra HD presentation for me was like seeing the movie for the first time all over again. Black levels are exceptionally inky, while never sacrificing shadow detail. Speaking about detail hardcore fans of the film are going to be blown away by the detail in almost every scene. Every little divet in Morpheus's face, every single line in clothing or fabric textures. I noticed details in wood and different surfaces that were never seen on past releases on home video. The clarity is quite striking.
Color reproduction is a revelation as well. We finally have crisp, bright whites for the simulation and training sequences, the real world is a mix of cold blues and deep blacks, when characters are in the Matrix the tone is more green with warmer primaries. The woman in the red dress pops off the screen. HDR performance makes it well worth taking the red pill to see how far this rabbit hole goes. Bright highlights in flashlights, crisp computer displays, the sparks from a train screeching to a halt and the blue electricity bolts around the Nebuchadnezzar. This is one of the best 4K releases to date.

The Matrix Reloaded and The Matrix Revolutions
With the new 4k remastering for the sequels now everything matches in tone and look for the complete trilogy. There are a few moments where bright scenes can look a touch blown out but these are stunning presentations. Color grading and reproduction looks excellent. An early scene in Revolutions was full of muted beige and yellow rubber, deep black suits and leather, and eye popping reds. When Neo makes his journey into the machine city it is a burst of brilliant warm, golden light. In Reloaded the opening and ending scene where Trinity drops her motorcycle onto a security outpost explodes with fiery oranges that makes any previous release on home video look muddy and washed out. Blacks are inky while shadow detail is a big step up, especially in the final chapters of Revolutions in Zion and the machine city in the real world. A fine layer of grain is seen throughout and that is appreciated as Reloaded and Revolutions was shot in film. Fans should rejoice and pick up the box set as this is where 4k Ultra HD is at it's best.

**AUDIO QUALITY**
Audio is provided by a
Dolby Atmos track. - Whoa! This new Atmos presentation takes the sound to new heights. Surrounds are constantly engaged with crystal clear effects and brilliant use of the extra channels to immerse you into this world. LFE performance was full of deep, chest thumping bass that will throttle you. No muddiness in the subs just consistent power. Dialogue reproduction was crisp and clear throughout. The score by Don Davis is still quite thrilling and fits this film perfectly. It sounds the best it ever has. There is not a single detractor to this track , just absolute perfection.
