20th Century Fox and MGM Home Entertainment has officially announced they will be bringing home the classic In the Heat of the Night to Blu-ray on January 14, 2014. Directed by Norman Jewison the film stars Sidney Poitier, Rod Steiger, Lee Grant and Warren Oates. The Blu-ray will feature 1080p video in the 1.85:1 aspect ratio. Audio will be provided by a DTS-HD Master 5.1 track. Below are the official details:
While traveling in the Deep South, Virgil Tibbs, a black Philadelphia detective, becomes embroiled in the murder investigation of a prominent businessman when he is first accused of the crime and then asked to solve it in spite of the efforts of the bigoted town sheriff.
