War Dogs 4K UHD Blu-ray Review

**SYNOPSIS**

Based on a true story, “War Dogs” follows two friends in their early 20s (Hill and Teller) living in Miami Beach during the Iraq War who exploit a little-known government initiative that allows small businesses to bid on U.S. Military contracts. Starting small, they begin raking in big money and are living the high life. But the pair gets in over their heads when they land a 300 million dollar deal to arm the Afghan Military—a deal that puts them in business with some very shady people, not the least of which turns out to be the U.S. Government.

**MOVIE REVIEW**

War Dogs is an entertaining film with strong performances by Jonah Hill and Miles Teller. The supporting cast is boosted by a hilarious turn by Bradley Cooper. There are some well done dramatics too add a little bit of depth. Definitely pick this one up. 8.5/10

**VIDEO QUALITY**

War Dogs arrives on 4K UHD Blu-ray with a 2160p transfer in the aspect ratio of 2.40:1 - It must be stated that War Dogs is upconverted from a 2k intermediate but that doesn't stop this presentation from getting a nice bump in color saturation and contrast lending to an image that really pops in the Miami shots. Lush green palms, crisp whites and gorgeous blue water. Jonah Hill's ridiculous spray tan has a nice Oompa Loompa glow too it but rest of the flesh tones have a nice natural appearance. />
Black levels were deep and rich while never sacrificing shadow detail. The image overall is well defined with crisp details. 9/10

**AUDIO QUALITY**

Audio is provided by a DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 track. - Despite the word "War" in the title this isn't an overly bombastic experience. Dialogue from various ethnic backgrounds sounds crisp and always intelligible. Surrounds are used for a few moments of action to spray the room with gunshots. The fun selection of music chosen for the film has excellent fidelity and is well balanced within the mix. LFE support was solid and precise but don't go in expecting room rattling bass. No pops , crackling nor hisses to speak of. 8/10
