I have always found the solar system to be fascinating and this series brings everything that goes on with Planet Earth and beyond to the forefront with several scientists and experts taking you back to the beginning of the universe to the possible end of Earth itself. Using older stock footage, beautifully shot HD locations such as Grand Canyon, and well produced CG graphics , I felt as though I took a ride through the solar system without ever leaving the house. For anyone who has ever looked up at the stars and wondered what else is out there and is there a possibility of life , look no further.10/10
"The Universe: Our Solar System" arrives on Blu-ray with a 1080i transfer in the original aspect ratio of 1.78:1.
I was blown away by some of the striking colors while touring "The Universe". The CG footage exhibits wonderful clarity. Blacks are pitch perfect, which gives the outer space moments the inky blacks I was looking for. Stock footage is fine, and current HD interviews and location footage are gorgeous. This release is a real stunner 9.5/10
Audio is provided by a Dolby Digital 2.0 Stereo track. While it is a shame we don't get a full 5.1 DTS track, the audio presentation is perfectly adequate. Dialogue is crisp and clear. The musical score comes across really nice. Bass is pretty much nonexistent. Overall a well done if underwhelming track 7/10
