***VIDEO QUALITY***

SummerSlam 2011 arrives on DVD with a 480p transfer in the original aspect ratio of 1.78:1. The PPV was shot in HD and the standard definition downconversion displayed a pleasing image. Black levels were consistent with solid contrast. Colors benefit from good saturation and some bold primaries. Fine detail was also clearly seen in the t-shirt designs and different people in the crowd. There were of course a few minor compression artifacts during ring entrances but nothing obtrusive. A strong performer overall. 8/10


***AUDIO QUALITY***

Audio is provided by a Dolby Digital 5.1 track. The commentary (when there was any actual play-by-play) was crisp and clean throughout the show. Entrance music was a standout with good dynamics and some mid bass notes coming across tight and accurate. Surround channels are there for atmospheric crowd din and some light bleeding of sounds from the ring. 8/10


***SPECIAL FEATURES***

* WWE Home Video Exclusive: Matt Striker interviews New WWE Champion Alberto Del Rio - This is okay for what it is but a shame they don't have more behind-the-scenes content like following the wrestlers like UFC DVD releases would have leading up to the fight.

WWE: Money In The Bank 2011 - DVD Review

For years, the Money in the Bank match was a highlight of WrestleMania, with each of the six winners going on to successfully cash in their opportunities and win World Championships. Money In The Bank 2011 arrives on DVD with a 480p transfer in the original aspect ratio of 1.78:1. Black levels are good with solid contrast. Colors were great with nice saturation and no bleeding. Detail was solid but there was softness in the image the first 20 minutes due to Kanes' pyro making the ring and arena presented in a haze. There were some minor compression artifacts during ring entrances but nothing obtrusive. A solid performer, but it is a shame that the best PPV in quite some time doesn't get a Blu-ray release. 8/10

Audio is provided by a Dolby Digital 5.1 track. Entrance music was the highlight with good dynamics and some solid bass performance. Commentary was crisp and clean throughout the show. Surround channels were used for atmospheric crowd din, which comes across well with the lively Chicago crowd. 7.5/10

Hello all. I just got in WWE: Money In The Bank 2011 DVD set to release on August 16, 2011. This is without a doubt the best PPV that WWE booked in several years and the crowd in Chicago makes this worth the purchase alone. I'll review the DVD of CM Punks' biggest night of his career in full detail by tomorrow night.

Exclusive WWE Elimination Chamber 2011 - DVD Review

***SYNOPSIS***

Six superstars vie for ultimate supremacy inside an unforgiving steel structure. At stake is a world championship and a date with the main event at WrestleMania. Six Raw superstars will battle in the elimination chamber for the WWE Championship and six of SmackDown s best will fight for the World Heavyweight Championship. In addition, other singles and tag team matches will have long-term ramifications on WrestleMania 27.




***MOVIE REVIEW***

This was without a doubt one of the best PPV shows in at least a year. The main events as well as the under card were well worked and exciting matches. John Morrison once again displayed athleticism that most mortals can only dream about. Trish Stratus gets a great reaction for her return and then proceeds to foul it with a so so promo and wearing high heels she was very clumsy.

Alberto Del Rio was excellent in his opening match with Kofi Kingston and shows why he is a deserving #1 contender at WrestleMania XXVII. Jerry "The King" Lawler and The Miz had the crowd eating out of their hand by the end of their well paced and exciting match. The fans in attendance started believing that Lawler may actually win his first WWE Cahmpionship, but alas it wasn't meant to be and now he is working in a superb program with Michael Cole. The Smackdown and Raw chamber matches took their place among the best ever in that monstrosity of steel and torture. All the top stars had their working shoes on for this evening and this is a worthy follow up to the highly anticipated "Super Bowl of Wrestling". Here is the full match listing:

Detail was good and the crowd was easily viewable. There were some light compression artifacts during ring entrances. Overall a consistently strong release. 8/10

WORLD EXCLUSIVE - WWE Royal Rumble 2011 DVD Review

***SYNOPSIS***

It's the dream of every superstar to headline WrestleMania. For one man out of 40, the dream becomes reality at the Royal Rumble. Whoever outlasts 39 other competitors earns himself a championship match at WrestleMania 27. The superstars of Raw and Smackdown, including past winners Randy Orton, John Cena, Edge, and Rey Mysterio, and superstars looking to add this win to their resume, including Wade Barrett, Kane, Kofi Kingston, Sheamus, John Morrison, The Miz, Mark Henry (and more) will do everything to overpower and outlast the competition as the Road to WrestleMania 27 begins at the Royal Rumble.




***MOVIE REVIEW***

I enjoyed this years show quite a bit. It had some solid wrestling action, surprise returns, and saw a new main event talent emerge. Below are my thoughts for each match:

World Heavyweight Championship Match - Edge vs Dolph Ziggler w/ Vickie Guerrero

This was a strong match to open the PPV. Dolph and Edge both worked at a steady pace that built to where the finish they had the crowd fully into it with the belief that Ziggler might actually pull out the win. Vickie of course interferes and she was Gold. Winner (Edge

WWE Championship Match - The Miz w/ Alex Riley vs. Randy Orton

This was a well fought match but wasn't there best head to head contest. There was a lot of interference from the New Nexus and Alex Riley. Miz got the pin after CM Punk slid out from under the ring and hot the GTS on Orton and laid Miz on top to retain. Winner (The Miz)

Divas Title Match - Natalya vs. Michelle McCool vs. Layla vs. Eve

The less said about this horrible match the better. It is a shame that this is what represents the Womens division now. My best opinion of this match is press skip on your remote. Winner (Eve)

40 Man Royal Rumble Match

CM Punk and Daniel Bryan started the biggest Royal Match in history. For a brief 90 seconds I was admittedly marking out for this and then came the usual jobbers that help fill out the roster. Punk was my favorite to win even though he was entrant #1. Fans were treated to a breathtaking display of athleticism from John Morrison that to describe doesn't do it justice, just watch for it. The surprise returns were Booker T and Diesel , they both received HUGE pops from the crowd. Unfortunately they were both promptly eliminated.

I felt the worst part of the match was about a 7 minute segment where John Cena and Hornswoggle teamed up and eliminated quite a few entrants with some terrible unfunny comedy and crowd pandering thrown in. Thankfully the match got back on track later and as stated a new main event talent was made when Alberto Del Rio outlasted Randy Orton, John Cena, and Wade Barret in the final four. There was a fun end when Santino who wasn't eliminated came back into the ring and the crowd was going crazy thinking he was going to actually win but Del Rio countered a move and is going to Wrestlemania 27 to challenge for whatever Championship he desires. Winner (Alberto Del Rio)

Detail was good and the crowd was easily viewable. There were some light compression artifacts during ring entrances. Overall a consistently strong release. 8/10
